U18's out but not down!
The U18 Plate quarter final v Deeside Ramblers did not go according to plan, four unanswered goals in each half (you do the maths) saw the visitors advance to finals day. However, with most of the squad still being eligible next season, expectations are high that they can go even further next season.

Ken Morrison 1944 - 2010

It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of Ken Morrison, one of the founders of The Magpie Brewery with Bob Douglas and Nick Sewter. "Ken was one of the 3 founders of the brewery and a key member of the team. Anyone visiting us will have seen the photos which show how he and Nick transformed a shell of a building into the neat and tidy layout that we now enjoy. Although he operated mainly “below the radar” – he preferred to be as out of sight as possible - he nevertheless took great pride in the success of our enterprise. He was a key member of our team, being responsible for all our IT and pump clip designs, sorting out problems with electrics in particular, brewing kit in general, as well as doing more than his fair share of the boring routine work without which there would be no product." (Bob)
The funeral will be on Tuesday, Dec 14th, at Wilford Hill at 3.20.  There will be a get together afterwards at the Embankment Club, (formerly the Boots Social Club), just over Trent Bridge.  I'm sure that anyone who knew Ken through trips to the brewery, etc, would be more than welcome to attend.

HOCKEY DAY 2011

A massive thank you to everyone who helped at the Hockeyday, which I think was a great success. There were over 30 club members and wives helping out and having all that help made it a real pleasure to be there. We didn't count how many youngsters turned up, but using my estimating powers, I would say 130 plus. Everyone seemed to be taking part in a really good spirit and there was a real buzz about the place. A number of parents came up to me as they were leaving and told me that their son/daughter was keen to start coming to coaching next Sunday, so with a bit of luck, we may well have recruited a lot more participants for our sport.

Future membership going well!
Congratulations to Will and Claire on the birth of baby Oliver, a strapping 8lb + ( I forget the exact ounces figure but I remembered the old adage about pulling your top lip over your head) clearly a future centre forward. And of course Katherine (Kit) Chandler was born on August 27th weighing 5lbs 9oz and we look forward to seeing Izzy back on the pitch asap and Kit challenging her for the midfield dynamo role.
